No.2: What I realised about my mission call

Time is ticking, and I have 103 days left before I report myself in MTC.

From all the days that have passed, I realised a lot of things regarding my mission call. I was worried at first when I knew that I am going to serve as a missionary in Toronto, Canada. I am the only daughter in the family and my parents do not agree about my plan to serve a mission many years ago. My mother wanted me to study as high level as possible and earn a living. My dad did not say much but he told me that girls do not have to serve. But things have changed after my big brother went on a mission in London, England. They started to have confidence in me and allowed me to serve when I bought up that topic to them.

I struggled a lot when I am trying my best to do the right thing. When I planned to go to the temple in Manila Philippines, something bad happened. I could not go and I was so devastated. I lose faith. I lose my motivation to go on a mission. I was lazy. But the scripture answered my prayers. It was in D&C 31:11. It says: "Go your way whithersoever I will, and it shall be given you by the Comforter what you should do and whither you shall go". I realised that I need to continue with my dream to become a sister missionary. There might be trials, but I cannot lose hope. I will be guided by the Holy Spirit when I do the things the Lord has commanded. As in 1Nephi 3:7. "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them".

I received my answer to my prayers before I have to desire to serve. The Lord asked me to do certain things before I apply for my mission and I did. I was so glad for the D&C 31:11 and kept me strong until I have done my part. My journey is not over and I realised that there are more for me to learn and to prepare myself.

I just came home from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. When I was in Kuala Lumpur, I realised that I am protected in my days. God sent me angels to protect me. God gave me fun and laughter to be happy. And I told myself, "God loves me the MOST!" It increased my testimony and I realised that I need to do the best I can to prepare myself before I officially become a sister missionary. I believe that there is a purpose why I was called to serve in Toronto, Canada. I believe that there are people there that are waiting for me. There are different kinds of missionaries out there and there must be reasons why we were called to serve in certain places.

I prayed for my mission call before I receive it. I prayed for my mission before I was called to serve. I prayed for the people that needs my help. After I received my mission call, I prayed for my mission president. I prayed for Toronto. And I will not stop praying for them even if I finished my missionary service. I will go forward with faith! As in D&C 4:3, Therefore, if ye have desire to serve God ye are called to the work". =)

No.1: Called to Serve

I finally got my mission call!!!!

I was depressed before that because I got few calls from Kuala Lumpur. Someone called Melissa said that my mission should have arrived, but I did not get it for more than a week!! I found out later that my letter was pending in the courier office's warehouse because of the incomplete address (They should have used the address I wrote in my mission paper instead of using my branch president's address). But anyway, I got stressed out because there is half an hour left before the office close and they will be opened after 3 days because of Gawaii and Kaamatan festival. 3 DAYS!!!! I cannot wait that much longer! So I called my very close friend, Rene (luckily he has a motorbike). He rushed to the courier office during peak hour.

When he came over to my work place, he said that the office was closed and he didn't get my letter. I was so frustrated and looked at my phone to call the people from the courier office again. Suddenly I felt something was knocked onto my head and it actually was Rene knocking me with my mission letter. I almost cried!!! But I was so happy at the same time.

After work, the elders (Elder Yang, Elder Harr, Elder Lee and Elder Sutherland), Rene, and my branch president's wife and kid (Sister Lu and Amos)was there to witness my biggest moment! How I wish my brother was there too, but he is still serving his mission in London.

So, here it is! My mission call!!!

And here are my mission call videos:

I am so blessed with this wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord and help others to come unto Christ. When I saw the signature of the living prophet, I was so proud of myself. I believe my calling was a calling from God and there is a reason why I was called to serve as a missionary in Canada Toronto Mission, English speaking. =)
